Brewster Little League Receives $95,000 Grant

State Sen. Greg Ball (R, C — Patterson) delivered a check Sunday afternoon.

Officials with the Brewster Little League (BLL) are hoping to upgrade Volunteer Park with a recently-secured grant.

Sen. Greg Ball (R, C — Patterson) presented a check Sunday afternoon. He said in a statement that he "made a pledge" to the organization to obtain money that could go toward rebuilding the field, which sits off Zimmer Road in Southeast.

“This $95,000 means we will be able to be doing something correct from the get-go, instead of piecing a project together," Carl Peterson, BLL president, said in Ball's release. "This will make these fields a premiere facility in Putnam County ... These fields will be something that the kids will enjoy for the next 20 – 30 years."

The upgrades include repairs to the fields, as well as the electrical and water hookups.

Putnam County Legislator Roger Gross, Southeast Councilman Edwin Alvarez and Southeast Deputy Supervisor Bob Cullen were in attendance. They thanked Ball for his efforts.

"This is a project that we would never be able to fund without this grant," Cullen said, according to the release.

Ball said his support for the League——and similar organizations, will continue.

"As long as I am in office, I will continue to deliver for Brewster and all the towns I represent and fight to bring as much of our tax money back from Albany, to home where it belongs."
