Lila and Mia, who are 5 and 6 years old, respectively, are two little girls who know the importance of helping others.
Since camp started last month, the young ladies have been recognized — through both "coins" that are given to campers who were "caught being good" and through verbal compliments — for their great behavior.
Staff members and counselors were extra impressed when Mia hugged and comforted her younger brother on one of his first days at camp. The youngster (he is in pre-K) was having a hard time adjusting, but Mia ran over and showed him around the playground, hugging him and showing him all the fun that awaits at Wells.
And just the other day, Lila came to the rescue when a fellow camper's napsack fell over, sending its contents spilling to the floor.
"That was really nice of you, Lila," Recreation Leader MaryAnne Gallipani told the little girl, who smiled shyly and nodded. "You didn't have to do that."
The girls have one more thing in common, too: A love for their counselor, Michele LaRusso. They agreed that Michele is the "bestest" and she is their favorite part of camp.
"She's just so nice," Mia said.
