A 22-year-old Brewster man is facing a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charge after an arrest in Southeast early Monday morning.

According to a report from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Sheriff Randel Hill arrested Marvin Avenue resident Byron A. Augustin-Martinez around 1:20 a.m. Police say that the defendant committed a traffic violation before the deputy stopped him, and that he subsequently failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests.

Authorities held Augustin-Martinez at the Putnam County Correctional Facility awaiting arraingment.
