Traffic Stops Lead to Three Arrests

The Brewster Police Department and the Putnam County Sheriff's Office provided the following information. It does not indicate any convictions.

 

Three drivers are facing misdemeanor charges following recent arrests in Brewster and Southeast. Here are the details:

  • Officer John Croston of the Brewster Police Department arrested a 47-year-old Southeast resident around 6:35 p.m. Saturday on Main Street in Brewster. The license plate reader in Croston's patrol car indicated that the registration for the passing vehicle had been suspended, Chief John DelGardo said. A subsequent traffic stop showed that the suspension was still active. Police charged the driver with operating a motor vehicle while registration is suspended, a misdemeanor. Authorities released the defendant, pending a Feb. 27 court appearance in the Village of Brewster.
  • Deputy Scott Lombardo of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office arrested a 26-year-old Yonkers resident around 1:45 p.m. Thursday on North Main Street in Brewster. According to a report released Tuesday, Lombardo stopped the defendant after he committed traffic violations. Further investigation revealed that the man's was driving on a suspended license. Police charged the defendant with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and then processed him at the Putnam County Correctional Facility. Authorities released him after he posted the $250 bail, pending a future court appearance in the Village.
  • Deputy Johnathon Cihanek arrested a 31-year-old Danbury, CT resident around 10:50 a.m. Jan. 20 on Route 22 in Southeast. According to the same report from the Sheriff's Office, Cihanek stopped the Connecticut man after he committed traffic violations. Police say the defendant's license and registration were suspended. He is facing the following misdemeanors: third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle while registration is suspended. Authorities released the defendant pending a future court date in the Town of Southeast.
