Young Helpers Make a Difference at Wells Camp

In this feature, we showcase the amazing things our youngest citizens accomplish.

These sisters make it a point to start their days off on the right foot, with bright and cheery spirits that counselors and staff appreciate.

Each summer the girls start a familiar routine: Arriving to Wells Camp early, around 8 a.m. before their peers are there, and helping to set up all the activities for the upcoming day. And each day, they do it with big smiles, Southeast Recration Department Leader MaryAnne Gallipani says.

"They're just really sweet," she told Patch, saying that most kids are usually still waking up and getting moving that early in the morning. "They're bouncing up and down and ready."

Between taking care of the recyclables, carrying out the toys and board games and setting up the beach, Brooke and Adriana are always up for lending a hand. Their enthusiasm might have to do with the fact that they love camp and the activities they participate in all-day long.

Only one thing may trump the fun they have with their friends: Summer treats. The girls said their favorite part of the day is visiting the snack bar and eating all kinds of "stuff." Their favorite goody?

"Ice pops!" they said with big grins.
