First Annual Bloomsday Celebration

The First Annual Bloomsday Celebration at The Schoolhouse Theater will be held on Saturday, June 16,
2012 from 12:30 to 3 pm, marking the 108th anniversary of the day on which James Joyce’s epic novel, Ulysses, was set.  “Bloomsday” is a commemoration and celebration of the life of the famous Irish author, during which many of the events of his novel Ulysses (which takes place on June 16, 1904) are re-enacted.  The day is observed annually in Dublin and other locations, deriving its name from Leopold Bloom, the protagonist of Ulysses.

Ulysses is set in and around Dublin and follows a remarkable single day in the lives of several characters, mainly Leopold Bloom, Stephen Dedalus and Molly Bloom. This very special event will include readings from the novel, re-enactment of scenes, listening to traditional Irish music and enjoying Irish food and drink. On hand will be a number of Schoolhouse veterans, including Broadway actress Annie McGreevey, who starred in The Schoolhouse production of "Rose" a few seasons back.  Annie will re-create Molly Bloom's famous soliloquy from the novel. New York actor Roger Grunwald will join in the fun by giving the audience his interpretation of Leopold Bloom.

Tickets are $10 per person and reservations are required. Feel free to dress in Edwardian attire!  For more information, call the Schoolhouse box office at 914-277-8477 or go to www.schoolhousetheater.org.

The Schoolhouse is located at 3 Owens Road,
Croton Falls, NY, just off exit 8 on I-684.  For reservations, call the box office at 914-277-8477. More information
about The Schoolhouse Theater and Gallery is on the web at www.schoolhousetheater.org.

Um...Since I live in Southeast, I can't vote for Mayor of the Village of Brewster. So why do youRead More think I, a taxpayer of Southeast, paid for this destruction when I really don't have a clue to what happens in the Village? There's a disconnect that needs to addressed.
