DOT: Route 22 Project Should Wrap Up Next Month

The $2.6 million project to widen Route 22 at Milltown Road in Southeast will be complete sooner than anticipated.

Here's what Carol Breen from the New York State Department of Transportation's Office of Communications told Patch Thursday:

"We expect the Route 22 widening project to be completed in mid-September. The contractor – Paleen Construction of Somers, Westchester County – is doing traffic signal work right now. Pavement striping is likely to begin next week and landscaping work still needs to be completed.

Work started in early March and we gave the contractor until the end of the year to finish the work. Paleen was very conscious in trying to minimize motorist delay and was able to accelerate the project, with the expectation of completing all improvements more than three months early."
