Why go: A day of fun activities introduces families to fascinating parts of traditional Chinese culture. Invent and paint your own calligraphic symbols on a banner; enjoy a Chinese concert with traditional Chinese musical instruments; see a real Chinese Fan Dance performance and more.

When/Where: 7 p.m. Saturday/ on Prospect Street in Brewster

Why go: Several different type of beer, including some local brews, will be available for tasting, which is set to benefit the church. Attendees will have the chance to enter raffles, too.

3. Lend a Hand and Participate in a

When/Where: 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday/Across Brewster and Southeast (register at 67 Main Street in the Village; in the event of rain, registration will take place under the canopy of the Cameo Theater at 63 Main Street)

Why go: What better way to welcome spring than sprucing up the streets we all drive on a daily basis? Gloves, safety vests and orange bags will be provided.

When/Where: 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and noon to 2 p.m. Saturday/Studio at  on Main Street in Brewster

Why go: Painter John Hedderson's works will be on display for two weeks beginning Friday. Come out and see his pieces—which focus on the human figure through bold colors and lively composition—while enjoying refreshments and live music.

5. Take the Kids to a

When/Where: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday/Putnam Hospital Center on Stoneleigh Avenue in Carmel

Why go: This event is slated to feature puppeteers, vendors and crafts—plus a teddy bear clinic. The whole family is guaranteed to have fun, and it doesn't cost a thing to attend! Admission and parking are free.
