Tilly Foster Farm Museum is Closed

Letter to the Editor:

Tilly Foster Farm Museum is CLOSED.

All animals have been sold and there will be no more events at the farm.

Many thanks to all of our supporters, staff and patrons. A heartbroken goodbye to all.

The Antique Tractor Museum remains open 7 days a week and the Rock and Roll Museum remains open Saturday and Sunday 12:00 - 4:00.

What a pity the powers that be in this county could/would not manage to keep open, for this county's residents, such a valuable resource as this was. Shame on them.

A very sad day for residents and visitors who appreciated the value of Tilly Foster Farm and it's residents, the animals. Whats happening in Putnam County is the reason why I left the city 31 years.

Unable to abide by the stipulations of the lease, the heartbroken Whipples relinquished the lease. Contrary to the banner that was posted, the Farm itself is not closed; the management has changed. Since February, plans are being developed by the county with the imput of residents .Hopefully County Executive Odell will respect the wishes of the residents for the return of farm animals - especially, the horses which were the face of Tilly Foster and that true to the authentic history of the farm, the Bloomer/Benedict Homestead will at long last celebrate the families that made Tilly Foster, the gem of Putnam County.
