Brewster, NY. July 17, 2012.  H. G. Fairfield Arts Center for the Environment is proud to announce that it will be hosting a 1960’s-themed production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Lakeside Park, in the Town of Pawling, on Saturday evening, August 11th, 2012, at 8:30 pm.

Pawling’s Town Recreation Department’s Children’s Summer Theater Program’s performance, Welcome to Camp Koolata, will be at the Lathrop Center of Lakeside Park beginning at 7pm, also on August 11th, and is written and directed by Camille Ludington. Immediately following in Lakeside Park’s open-air Pavilion will be A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Strange Bedfellows, with Diana Green directing the company, will revel in midsummer mayhem in a setting so reminiscent of the Athenian forest in Shakespeare’s script.

“We are thrilled to present the Children’s Shakespeare Theater’s adult troupe, Strange Bedfellows,” says Kathie F. Freston, H. G. Fairfield Arts Founder; “We are doubly thrilled that the adults’ performance will follow the conclusion of Pawling’s children’s performance. The public will have the opportunity to see two wonderful performances in the same evening, in the same park, on separate stages.”

H. G. Fairfield Arts’ Midsummer Mayhem is just one of the many must-see summer theatrical attractions in Dutchess, Putnam, Westchester Counties, and NY’s Mid-Hudson Valley. “We have a wealth of culture and entertainment, talent and the Arts, all around us;” remarks Ms Freston. The Children’s Shakespeare Theater, founded by Diana Green and based in Palisades, NY, in Rockland County and the Lower Hudson Valley, is dedicated to giving young performers “an opportunity to experience Shakespeare's words and deep understanding of the human experience and to help them to translate their experience to a broader audience of children and adults” www.childrensshakespeare.org. “Working in summer stock theater as a young college student,” Kathie Freston reveals, “was a highlight for me growing up. Being able to put Arlo Guthrie on stage for the first time is icing on the cake, proving: Big things on stage can happen in little towns.”

Not ‘fluent’ in Shakespeare? “Nae ta worry!” exclaims Kim Blacklock, H. G. Fairfield Arts President; “Costumes from the ’60s and a hippie attitude to match may well dust off those neuronal memory chips. Make sure to save the date to come join us!”
