Brewster vs. Carmel--Thursday

The Brewster varsity volleyball team fell to Carmel in three matches, 25-23, 25-21, and 25-19.
Their record is currently 2-8.  They will play Carmel again in their tournament on Saturday before beginning another marathon week of four matches in five days.

Today, we weren't getting our passes up from the back row, and we got caught standing up and not knowing where we were on the court.   The girls are starting to get tired, and it showed in the mistakes we made today.  Our schedule has been tough, but the girls are working hard and keeping close in matches.  Their record isn't indicative of the way the girls are playing each game.

Senior captain Sam DiCanio had 5 digs.
Junior Tara D'Ottavio had 2 kills, 2 assists, 2 aces, and 2 digs.
Junior Leah Sullivan had 5 kills, 1 ace, 7 digs, and  1 block.
Junior Erin Hurley had 1 kill, 3 assists, 3 aces, and 1 dig.
Sophomore Julianne Dingee had 8 digs.
For Carmel, Jessica Blank had 13 kills.

Captain Michelle Corona had 23 digs.
Hannah Aull had 11 kills
Captain Lauren Marsden had 3 aces and 8 digs.
Veronica Faley had 3 aces and 30 assists.
Carmel is currently 2-4.  Their next game is on Friday at home against Haldane.  They will host the Carmel Tournament on Saturday.

Carmel Tournament
The girls varsity volleyball team placed second at the Carmel tournament today.  Brewster started the day with wins against Scarsdale, Lourdes, and Poughkeepsie.  Their only loss during pool play was to Carmel, and were seeded second with a 3-1 pool play record.

They entered the playoffs and beat Scarsdale 2 games to 1.  They moved into the semi-finals and beat Lourdes in 2 games.  They entered the finals against Carmel, and lost in two games.

The girls played incredibly well all day.  Our hitters were killing it at the net, and our back row was all over the court hustling for every ball.  Our setters kept finding our hitters to put down the ball.  It was a great day of volleyball before another marathon week of games starting on Monday at Yorktown.

Junior outside hitter Leah Sullivan was named to the All-Tournament Team after an impressive day of kills, strong serving, and great passing from the back row
