'Stealing Heaven'

A book review of YA Novel "Stealing Heaven" written by Elizabeth Scott.

When I read the excerpt for Stealing Heaven, I was very intrigued. It sounded like something interesting, different, and an excellent read.

I've heard only good things about author Elizabeth Scott, so I gave it a go.

My insights were incredibly wrong.

The book tells the story of an 18-year-old girl, Danielle, and her single mother. Dani doesn't go to school or have any friends. The reasoning behind it?

Danielle and her mother are thieves.

They travel from city to city, state to state, and steal from wealthy people's houses. It's how they make their living and it's all Dani and her mother have ever known.

The novel takes them to a wealthy beach town, Heaven, and they plan to put down their mark.

What they didn't plan on was Dani meeting a cutie boy, who happens to be a cop and her befriending the girl whose house the mother and daughter duo plan on robbing.

The plot line was excellent, but the writing and character tones fell short.

Dani and her mother were annoying in their dialouge and their personalities. The pace of the book seemed off, it would be moving very slow and then speed up over important parts.

The book wasn't a total diaster as the ending was very unexpected and enjoyable.

Altogether, the book was not up to my expectations. It was a good read, just not amazing.
