Roadwork on Route 22: 'They're Doing the Best They Can'

The Shell station in Southeast has seen a drop in sales [see the attached video] since roadwork began on Route 22.

Located in the work zone, the station is surrounded by cones. Crews work nearby, and sometimes in the Shell entranceway.

"The customers that would complain don't come in," manager Bill Evans said, noting that 25 years in business has led to a good, loyal customer base. "The ones that come in, they don't really complain about it."

The project is aimed at realigning the highly congested intersection at Milltown Road and Route 22. It's slated to wrap up by December, but Evans heard it could be earlier than that.

"They're doing the best they can," he said.
