Maloney Advocates for Tappan Zee Bridge at First Committee Hearing

Suggests Public-Private Partnerships for Key Transportation Initiatives

WASHINGTON - At the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s first hearing on the “The Federal Role in America’s Infrastructure,” Congressman Maloney advocated for the TIFIA program and the Tappan Zee Bridge replacement for the people of the Hudson Valley. Recently, Congressman Maloney sent a letter to Secretary LaHood to urge the Department of Transportation to immediately approve New York’s TIFIA application which is necessary to help replace the bridge. A copy of the letter can be found here.

“Investing in America’s infrastructure is critical to growing our economy and creating jobs in the Hudson Valley, and innovative programs like TIFIA loan guarantees enable the federal government to partner with states, local government and industry to make vital projects like the Tappan Zee Bridge possible,” said Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney.

“After starting my own business I helped create the public-private partnership commission in the Governor’s office. I know how important it is to bring the private sector to the table to form public–private partnerships that stretch our limited resources and allow us to invest in and rebuild our infrastructure,” concluded Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney.
