Maloney Listens to Neighborhood Small Business Owners

Newburgh, NY –  Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of National Small Business Week, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney visited neighborhood small businesses in the Village of Goshen and spoke with local business owners and community leaders about partnering together to help strengthen small businesses in the Hudson Valley. Led by Lynn Cione of the Goshen Chamber of Commerce, Rep. Maloney and Assemblyman James Skoufis toured multiple small businesses along Main Street including Trailside Treats, Steve’s Deli, Sunoco, A&F Tire & Battery and Joe Fix Its.

“Small businesses are the lifeblood of communities like Goshen and drive economic growth in the Hudson Valley. I know how difficult running a business can be, and I am encouraged to see the hard work, dedication, and innovation of the small business owners right here in my neighborhood,” said Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney.  “Unfortunately, many small businesses in the Hudson Valley still face hurdles and government red tape that keep their doors from opening or from expanding and creating jobs, and government at all levels should do their part by creating an environment for businesses to thrive.”

This month, Rep. Maloney launched a district wide initiative to engage small businesses in the Hudson Valley. Maloney has invited local businesses to participate in an online survey which asks Hudson Valley businesses about the challenges they face and what initiatives they believe will help them grow and hire more workers.

In addition to meeting directly with small business owners and hosting a series of “Congress at Your Company” events with large and small employers in the Hudson Valley, Maloney has met with local Chambers of Commerce and economic development leaders.
