Maloney Participates in Hurricane Preparedness Workshops

Newburgh, NY - With Hurricane season in full swing throughout the Northeast, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney participated in two Hurricane Preparedness Workshops and launched an online resource page and a printable Hurricane Preparedness guide. June 1st marked the beginning of another active hurricane season, scheduled to last through November, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), has recently predicted an above average hurricane season. The past few years have seen devastating natural disasters like Hurricane Irene, Tropical Storm Lee, and Superstorm Sandy.

“We cannot stop disasters like Irene or Sandy from happening, but we can all work together and take smart steps to protect our families, homes and communities,” said Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney. “Taking early precautions and having a recovery plan are critically important ways to minimize damage during hurricane season.”

In addition, Rep. Maloney launched a resource page to help homeowners and businesses continue to apply for federal recovery aid from previous disasters. For more information on applying for federal aid and New York State recovery programs, interested residents and businesses should visit http://nysandyhelp.ny.gov, or contact Maloney’s Newburgh Office at 845-561-1259.
