Maloney Statement Recognizing Juneteenth

Newburgh, NY – Representative Sean Patrick Maloney released the following statement in celebration of Juneteenth, the oldest, nationally-celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States, which is observed on June 19:

“On this Juneteenth, we celebrate the end of slavery in our country and remember all those who fought against inequality and injustice and demanded freedom from oppression. As we observe this historic time in June, we also recognize those who continue to fight so that our country may continue to be a symbol of equal rights and equal opportunity for all.”
