Maloney To Host Veterans, Service Members, & Military Families Fair

On Saturday, Representative Sean Patrick Maloney is hosting a free fair for veterans, service members, and military families featuring dozens of organizations, including the mobile health unit from VA Hudson Valley Health Care, Hudson Valley Veterans Service Organizations, NYS Division of Veterans’ Affairs and education liaisons from the Department of Veterans Affairs. The fair will take place on August 3rd from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the SUNY Orange – Middletown Campus in the George F. Shepard Student Center Building located at 115 South Street in Middletown, NY 10940.

“Our veterans, service members, and their families have devoted their lives in service to our country, and we must honor the promises made to them by helping them access the support they have earned,” said Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, son of a Navy veteran. “In addition to the Veterans Advocates in my office who are dedicated to helping veterans navigate any red tape and bureaucracy, this fair is an opportunity to connect our community with local, state and federal organizations who serve those who have served us.”

There will be participants present from: The American Legion, AMVETS (Hudson Valley Chapter), Catholic War Veterans, Hudson Valley Honor Flight, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), Library of Congress Veterans History Project, Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH), Mount St. Mary’s College, New York Guard, Orange County Veterans Service Agency, Putnam County Veterans Service Agency, Student Veterans of America at Marist, U.S. Army Reserve.

This year, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney has launched an online page devoted to assisting the tens of thousands of veterans in the Hudson Valley. Rep. Maloney currently has a full-time Veterans Advocate on staff to help veterans with their claims for educational, disability, retirement, medical, burial, spousal and dependents' benefits as well as the correction of military records and medals. So far, Representative Maloney has helped return more than $600,000 to folks in retroactive veteran’s benefits. Recently, he announced that he will also be hiring a disabled veteran through the Wounded Warrior Program.
