3 Things to Know about Putnam's Animal Shelter

Keep reading for information on job opportunities, lost pets and more.

Welcome back to Southeast-Brewster Patch's weekly Animal in Need column.

Usually, we visit the Putnam Humane Society (PHS) and write about a dog or cat. This week, we're providing you with three pieces of information, based on notes from the shelter's website.

  • PHS is hiring. Management is looking for kennel staff. Applicants—who should be at least 18, "have a clean driver's license, be able to do physically demanding work" and more—may swing by the shelter (which is located on Old Route 6 in Carmel) and pick up a form.
  • Donations of all sorts are always welcome at PHS. Staff members have broken down the needs into the following categories: "for our doggies and kitties, for our office, for our kennel." Click here to learn more.
  • Here's what you should do if you, or someone you know, has lost a dog or cat:
Please email, call, or go to the shelter and provide us with a description and/or photo of your lost pet.
