Reminders: Fire District Election, Board of Ed Meeting

Several events make the Dec. 11 list of local happenings.

  • A commissioner's seat with the Brewster-Southeast Joint Fire District is up for grabs, and registered, local voters in the district are invited to come out between 6 and 9 this evening to cast their ballot. The vote will take place at the department's substation at the intersection of Route 312 and North Brewster Road. The five-year term begins Jan. 1, 2013 and ends Dec. 31, 2017. As of 11:30 a.m., incumbent A. Gerald Schramek is running unopposed. He said it has been his "honor and pleasure to serve as a fire commissioner for the last 10 years," and he "looks forward to another term."
  • Brewster's Board of Education is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. at the district office. Click here to view the agenda.
  • Southeast Justice Court is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. at the civic center on Route 22.

If your event is missing from the list, add it in the attached comments section.
