Members of the car club where Thomas Sullivan served as events director will ride this weekend in memory of him and his family.
Originally dubbed the 'Fun Run,' the New York Z Car Club renamed Saturday's rain-or-shine event to the Sullivan Family Memorial Road Run Around the Mighty Hudson River. Proceeds from T-shirts—marking the event will go to Thomas Sullivan, Jr., the lone survivor of the . It destroyed the family's Carmel home, killing the Larchmont police captain, his wife and teenage daughters May 1.
Drivers will start the ride in Cortlandt Manor, head southbound to the Bronx and make several stops before wrapping up with lunch in Garrison. Thomas, Jr. and his grandfather are slated to attend. Click here for details on the route.
Sullivan served as events director for the club, which is made up of folks who love the Datsun Z, a coupe sports car that comes in a variety of models. A photo of him in a 280Z, along with a message entitled "A Sad Day," headlines the organization's website.
"As many of you know Tommy was a great guy, willing to help anyone and loved his family," President Clive Bogle Jr said in a statement on the website. "Tommy passed away a hero as news reports say he saved his son's life and went back into the burning house for the rest of his family. Tommy and his family will be forever remembered and loved by the NYZCC family. Please keep them and their extended family in your prayers."
Police have yet to release a cause of the fire. Earlier this week, dedicated to Thomas, Jr.
