[UPDATE] Weather for Friday, the Weekend

The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy rain tonight through Friday and chance of snow this weekend and on Christmas Eve.

[Update, 9:25 a.m. Friday] The rain—which has been and may continue to be heavy at times—in Brewster and Southeast looks like it will come to a halt sometime around noon, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will likely remain in the low 40s.

New York State Electric and Gas is reporting 105 power outages, most of which are in Patterson, across Putnam. The company has listed noon as the estimated restoration time for those locations.

Friday night's weather looks clear, with a slight chance of snow showers after midnight and a low of about 30 degress.

[Original story, 2:55 p.m. Thursday] It may not be a white Christmas in Southeast this year, but folks should be ready for some rain and a few snow showers this week and weekend.

The NWS is forecasting rain and fog for the area beginning late this evening and continuing into Friday morning. Brewster and Southeast could see up to an inch and a half of rain, thunderstorms and strong wind gusts throughout the day.

Also, expect snow showers Friday night into early Saturday morning and more snowflakes on Christmas Eve night, according to the NWS. But it looks like Christmas Day is in the clear, with a high of 34 degrees and partly sunny skies.

Keep the umbrellas and boots handy this weekend while doing that last-minute holiday shopping!
