NWS Issues Freezing Rain Advisory for Putnam

It affects Fairfield (CT), Orange, Rockland and Westchester counties, too.

The Monday morning commute may be a bit messy in Putnam and the surrounding area, as the forecast calls for freezing rain and snow before 9.

Fog and rain will follow in Brewster, along with temperatures in the low 40s, according to the National Weather Service. It's unlikely that there will be any accumulation.

"Freezing rain, possibly mixed with snow and sleet, will make travel hazardous late tonight through Monday morning," reads a freezing rain advisory, which is in effect until 9 a.m., from the NWS. "Untreated roads will become slick and icy. Conditions should improve late Monday morning as temperatures rise and the winty mix changes to plain rain.

Expect more fog, and possibly showers, in the evening. Conditions will also include cloudy skies and a low of about 30 degrees, forecasts say.

Tuesday should be breezy and partly sunny, with a high of 43 degrees.
