NYSEG: Outages in Brewster, Southeast

The company had not posted estimated restoration times by 8:10 p.m.

Several neighborhoods in Putnam and Northern Westchester were in the dark by Tuesday evening, as strong winds and heavy rain crashed through the area.

According to the New York State Electric and Gas website at 8:10 p.m., about more than 2,000 customers in Brewster, Carmel, Patterson and Southeast did not have power. At that time, the company had not yet listed estimated restoration times. 

The outages were high concentrated on the following streets: Apple Tree Lane, Autumn Lane, Blueberry Drive, Cobb Road, Driftway Lane, Enoch Crosby Road, Fields Lane, Guinea Road, Maple Drive, Orchard Hill Lane, Ridgetop Lane, Stonewall Lane and Tamarack Lane.

The National Weather Service's Tornado Warning is in effect until 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Number of Southeast residents without power is at about 880 right now, according to NYSEG's site. No restoration times are available yet.

i didn't grow up around here, but has it always been like this? losing power multiple times in one year due to heavy rain/winds?

As someone who grew up in Putnam, I'd say losing power is not a rarity in this area! Here's an update on the power situation: NYSEG says about 100 people in Brewster and Southeast are still without power. Estimated restoration time is 8:30 p.m.

NYSE has changed for the worst Power goes out too often and lately with rain shower They are uncaring. Invisible and nonresponive Poor workmanship and bad equipment leads to failures
