Experts say that the strong winds and low humidity across Putnam, Rockland and Westchester Counties will make for "explosive fire growth potential" Monday afternoon and evening.
According to a 'Red Flag' warning from the National Weather Service, folks should exercise "extreme caution" when it comes to outdoor fires until about 9 p.m., as conditions in southeast New York and northeast New Jersey will make it easy for flames to spread "rapidly."
The alert calls for 20 to 30-mph-winds, with gusts up to 45 mph.
