Unofficial Results Show Incumbent Leads in Brewster, Southeast

10:25 p.m. Tuesday Some unofficial results are available on the Putnam County Board of Elections website:

In the Village of Brewster, all districts are reporting, according to the unofficial results. For the mayoral race: James J. Schoenig (Best for Brewster, Conservative) with 121 votes (about 67-perent), Richard Allen (Bulldog) with 59 (about 32-percent) and one write-in. 

When it comes to village trustees, Teresa P. Stockburger (Best for Brewster, Conservative) landed 115 votes and Erin Meagher (Conservative) 91. There were 113 write-ins. Christine Piccini was running as a write-in.

Incumbent Richard L. O'Rourke (Best for Brewster, Conservative) was running unopposed for village justice. He secured 141 votes (about 98-percent).

In the Town of Southeast, Elizabeth Hudak (R, I, C) took 1,834 votes, Robert Cullen (R, I) 1,393 and Dennis J. Sant (C) 663.

For the District 6 Putnam County legislator position, Roger Gross (R, C) has 1,127 votes and John McCarron (D) 450.

9:50 p.m. Tuesday
 Among the unofficial results: Six of 20 election districts reporting results, 630 votes for Roger Gross and 270 for John McCarron, for the District 6 Putnam County legislator position.

One of two districts is reporting results for the Village of Brewster race: Schoenig with 121 votes, Allen with 59 and one write-in.

4:50 p.m. Tuesday
The machines at Southeast Town Hall showed 492 votes around 4:40 p.m.

"I come out to vote every time there is an election," Elena Carapola, 61, said outside the building. She called the opportunity to vote an honor and a right.

Henrietta Parsons, 70, shared some similar comments after she cast her ballot. Aside from feeling strongly about some of the regional issues addressed in the propositions, she said she always thinks of the women's suffrage movement on Election Day. 

"We are so fortunate, that's the cool thing," she said, adding that voting is a "way of life."

4:15 p.m. Tuesday Approximately 660 voters had shown up to the polls at Brewster High School.

More than 30 elections inspectors were there. They said there hadn't been many crowds throughout the day, and overall turnout seemed slighter lower than previous years.
