CFC Azul plays for global soccer charity

CFC Azul, which showcases top college and prospective Major League Soccer talent, plays its final home game at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at WCSU Western Athletic Complex. Azul faces the Real Boston Rams, with both teams battling for top honors in the U.S. Premier Development League, and spots in the upcoming playoffs.

With tickets at $10 for adults, $5 for teens, and free for ages 10 and under, CFC Azul offers soccer-loving families in western Connecticut an affordable way to see future Major League Soccer players in action, many of them from local colleges.

Another good reason to attend Saturday’s game is that a large portion of the proceeds will go to Futbol Friends International (www.FFIUSA.com), a Woodbury-based charity that connects U.S. soccer fans young and old with kids around the world who lack the basic gear they need to play the game, many of whom fashion their soccer balls from rags and plastic bags.
