Presidents’ Week Special Event – Books To Soldiers At The Mahopac Public Library Book Barn

For a soldier far from home, a sailor at sea or a veteran in the hospital, a book can be a good friend. It’s an excellent way to escape a harsh reality, relieve loneliness or simply find a little entertainment. That’s why The Friends of Mahopac Public Library are celebrating Presidents Day with a special sales event designed to put books in the hands of the men and women in the armed forces and veterans.

For every dollar spent at the Book Barn from February 18th to 25th, the Friends of Mahopac Library will donate one paperback to Books to Soldiers. This organization, founded by a teenage girl, Jamie Stein, delivers thousand of books to forts, making them available to soldiers shipping out. They also donate to local Veterans homes and hospitals.
