Brewster HS To Reveal New Track Made Partly Possible By 100K Grant Secured By Senator Greg Ball

Brewster High School will host a community reopening celebration to officially unveil its new track at their 36th Annual Brewster Bear Classic Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, October 5th at 9:15 AM.

The new track was made possible partly by a $100,000 state grant secured by Senator Greg Ball’s (R, C, I – Patterson).

“Our region pays some of the highest taxes in the state, and while I am a limited government guy I believe it is critical that we fight for our fair share of the budget,” said Senator Ball. “I also know that the lessons learned on the athletic field are just as important as those learned in the classroom, and supporting athletic programs in this tough economy remains essential. It has been my pleasure to work with the school district to make this much needed project possible.”

“We want to thank Senator Ball for ensuring that first our wonderful champion track and field teams can compete at home. Next for giving the school and community a safe and beautiful facility to enjoy and further fitness and well being,” said Superintendent Dr. Jane Sandbank. “The Senator’s support for education, the Brewster community and his understanding of the need for partnerships between school districts and our government officials is forward thinking.”

Additional funds for the track came from the Brewster Sports Foundation and also by the Brewster Board of Education earlier this year.

“It is with enthusiastic gratitude that we thank Senator Greg Ball for securing a $100,000.00 grant which, along with other resources from the Brewster Sports Foundation and the Brewster Central Board of Education has enabled us to re-surface and build a competitive track allowing us, for the first time, to host home meets,” said Dr. Joseph Castagnola, Principal of Brewster High School.
