Senator Greg Ball Secures $5,000 Grant For Mahopac Senior Citizen Prom

Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) was at the Mahopac High School Senior Citizen Prom this weekend to present at $5,000 state grant that he successfully secured for the yearly event.

“This is a wonderful event that Mahopac School District hosts every year. The event allows students to meet and enjoy a fun day with our senior citizen population. When the school district reached out to me for help securing money to fund this event, I was happy to help,” said Senator Greg Ball. “I’m fighting to freeze school taxes for seniors, deliver much needed funding for senior programs throughout the district and I am also constantly working to support the concerns of individual constituents throughout my district.”

The 11th Annual Senior Citizen Prom was hosted on Sunday November 24th from noon to 3:00 PM at the Mahopac High School Gym. This year, the prom was a 50’s sock hop theme. More than 250 seniors attend the event sponsored by the Mahopac High School Student Athletic Council.

“Senator Greg Ball’s support for the senior citizens of our community through this grant is enthusiastically appreciated,” said Mahopac Central School District Superintendent Thomas Manko. “This grant provided by Senator Ball will enable the school district to continue this important initiative that recognizes our senior citizens and provides a forum for inter-generational communication where current high school students serve dinner, coffee and desert to our senior citizens and dance with and listen to stories from the senior citizens. Senator Ball's support for our school community is very much appreciated.”
