Brewster Woman Dies at 73

Marguerite ‘Peggy’ C. Leder of Brewster, NY, died on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013 at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, with her family and friends at her side. She was 73 years old.

Peggy was born in Yonkers, NY, on July 26, 1940, daughter to the late Francis and Marjorie (Rippolone) Clowry. She graduated Gorton High School in Yonkers, SUNY Albany and the College of New Rochelle, where she received her master's degree in special education teaching.

She lived in Yonkers until 1979 when she moved to Brewster. Peggy worked at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility as a teacher until 2006 when she retired. She also taught at North Salem High School and Our Lady of Good Council in White Plains, among others.  

Peggy loved life so much and lived to the fullest. She loved to travel the world and go to the beach in New Jersey every summer. When she was younger Peggy enjoyed golfing and skiing. She loved animals, and had many cats and dogs throughout her life. In 1962 Peggy was runner up for Ms. New York. She volunteered at Putnam Hospital Center and the North Salem Library. She gave unconditionally and loved all her family and friends.

Peggy is survived by her loving son, Robert Leder of Stamford, CT; her brother Michael Clowry and his wife Eileen of Holmes, NY; many nieces and nephews; and all her beloved friends. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church (10 Croton Falls Road in Croton Falls, NY) on Friday, Nov. 15 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a private cremation. Friends may call at the Beecher Funeral home (1 Putnam Avenue in Brewster, NY) on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Putnam Humane Society at P.O. Box 297, Carmel, NY 10512.

She is greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
