Longtime Brewster Resident Dies

Interment will be held at a later date.

Walter Cable, Sr., a lifelong Brewster resident, died Tuesday in Carmel at the age of 81.

He was born Sept. 28, 1930 in Brewster, son of the late Charles and Mary (Hyatt) Cable. He married Edna Totten in Carmel on Feb. 1, 1948. Cable was a laborer for local 235 in Elmsford for more than 50 years. Before he retired, he was a past associate member of the , and a past member of the Donate Club at .

Besides his wife, Edna, Cable is survived by a son: Walter Cable of Brewster; a sister: Marion Ercole of Pawling; a brother: Harold Cable of Riverside, CA; a daughter-in-law: Lisa Cable of Brewster; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was recently predeceased by his son, Randolph Cable, on Jan. 26, 2012. His son Frank Cable and daughter Darlene Mason also predeceased him.

A funeral service was slated for Saturday at the VFW. Interment will be held at a later date. Beecher Funeral Home (1 Putnam Avenue in Brewster) is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Um...Since I live in Southeast, I can't vote for Mayor of the Village of Brewster. So why do youRead More think I, a taxpayer of Southeast, paid for this destruction when I really don't have a clue to what happens in the Village? There's a disconnect that needs to addressed.
