Obituary: Brewster Woman Dies at 76

Beecher Funeral Home provided the following obituary.

Carol Carpenter, 76, of Brewster, died Monday at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel.

Mrs. Carpenter was born in North Tarrytown, NY on June 4, 1936, daughter to the late Joseph and Evelyn (Tidaback) Schwer. She graduated from Sleepy Hollow High School. On May 20, 1954 she married Allan Carpenter; he predeceased her in 1991.

Mrs. Carpenter was an accounting clerk for Ethan Allen Hotel in Danbury, CT for more than 40 years before retiring. She was an avid gardener, an outdoor woman—camping and fishing—and a painter.

Mrs. Carpenter is survived by three children: Judy Condreras of Brewster, David Carpenter of Amenia and James Carpenter of East Hampton; five grandchildren: Michael, Christine, Alyson, Cole and Shannon; and siblings: Joseph Schwer, Donald Schwer and Evelyn Giannotto.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Beecher Funeral Home (located on Putnam Avenue in Brewster, 845-279-3615). Interment will follow at Raymond Hill Cemetery in Carmel. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Wednesday at Beecher.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make a contribution to American Cancer Society.

Um...Since I live in Southeast, I can't vote for Mayor of the Village of Brewster. So why do youRead More think I, a taxpayer of Southeast, paid for this destruction when I really don't have a clue to what happens in the Village? There's a disconnect that needs to addressed.
