Obituary: Brewster Woman, 88, Dies

Marie J. ‘Mimi’ Bonaventure passed away at home in Brewster, peacefully with her family at her side on Monday at the age of 88.

She was born March 10, 1924 in New York, New York, daughter of the late Peter and Margaret (LoPiccolo) Polgano. She graduated from New York City Schools in 1941. On June 2, 1946, she married Thomas F. Bonaventure in Manhattan.

Mrs. Bonaventure worked as a purchasing agent for Honeywell in North White Plains for 25 years before retiring in 1987. After her husband passed away in January 2007, she moved back to Brewster.

She is survived by her three children: Frances Koch of Carmel; Thomas Bonaventure of Brewster; Marguerite Surovy of Winnetka, CA; a sister Rose Pane of Yonkers; four grandchildren: Brian and Evan MacPhee, Marisa Surovy and Stephanie Gopian; and two great grandchildren.

The wake will be held at Beecher Funeral Home (located on Putnam Avenue in Brewster, 845-279-3615), from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Interment will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Um...Since I live in Southeast, I can't vote for Mayor of the Village of Brewster. So why do youRead More think I, a taxpayer of Southeast, paid for this destruction when I really don't have a clue to what happens in the Village? There's a disconnect that needs to addressed.
