Obituary: Community Member Dies at 76

Beecher Funeral Home provided the following obituary.

James V. Sambucini, of Somers, died at home Thursday at the age of 76.

Mr. Sambucini was born Feb. 10, 1936 in Brooklyn, son of the late Oreste and Mary (Folchetti) Sambucini. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln H.S. in Brooklyn, received his bachelor of arts from St. John’s University and his master's degree from New York University.

On Aug. 25, 1962 he married Anna Conelli in Brooklyn. They have lived together in Somers for the past 45 years, and were members of St. Joseph’s Church in Croton Falls. Mr. Sambucini was a teacher at Lincoln Hall in Somers for 28 years before retiring and owning and operating the Feed Barn in Brewster, Mahopac and New Milford, CT.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Church (14 Croton Falls Road) in Croton Falls. Internment will follow in Union Valley Cemetery in Mahopac. The wake will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Beecher Funeral Home (located on Putnam Avenue in Brewster, 845-279-3615).

Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or the charity of your choice.
