Obituary: Community Member Dies at 92

Beecher Funeral Home provided the following obituary.

Elaine R. Symanowitz of Danbury, CT, died Wednesday in Danbury at the age of 92.

She was born July 26, 1920 in Blairsville, PA, daughter of the late Frank and Marianna (Hrobak) Layok. She graduated from schools in Pennsylvania and attended beautician school. On June 20, 1941 she married Walter Symanowitz, who predeceased her on Oct. 30, 2000.

Mrs. Symanowitz was a member of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster and worked as a nurses' aid for many years. She had lived in Brewster for 43 years before moving to New Fairfield in 1984 then moving to Danbury two years ago. Mrs. Symanowitz enjoyed cooking and making dresses when she was a younger woman.

She is survived by her son, Paul Symanowitz, of Danbury; her daughters, Joan Rudd of Doylestown, PA and Elaine VanDeWater of New Fairfield, CT; her brother, Louis Layok of Danbury; five grandchildren: Jason and Victoria Rudd, Paula VanDeWater and Kyle and Keith Symanowitz; and her great-grandson, Jack Rudd.

A funeral service will be held 5 p.m. Saturday at Beecher Funeral Home (located on Putnam Avenue in Brewster, 845-279-3615). Internment will be private. Calling hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

If its a reservoir you need the water shed permit.
