Visiting Hours are May 16 for Robert Callahan


Robert Raymond Callahan, of Brewster, NY, died on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at
Vassar Brother Hospital. He was 68 years old. 

Mr. Callahan was born June 8, 1945 in White Plains, NY, son to the late John and Madeline (Bosshold) Callahan. Bob graduated from Croton-Harmon High School in 1963; he then graduated from Trenton State receiving his bachelor’s degree in accounting. After graduation Robert joined the United States Air force and served during the Vietnam War.

On October 24, 1981 Robert married Jeanne Shanz at their home in Dobbs Ferry, NY with friends and family supporting them. He worked for IBM as a business controls manager for 30 years before retiring in 1993.

Robert enjoyed playing golf and cooking. Bob was a devoted husband and father, his family was everything to him, he was always there for people, he had a kind heart. Being a father was his favorite role in life.

Besides his wife, Mr. Callahan is survived by his three sons; Kevin C. of Harriman, NY, Matthew D. of Brewster, NY and Liam M. of Brewster, NY, and their significant others; Daniel and Stephanie, his two sisters; Noreen Alpert and Karen Berens. He was predeceased by his brother Kevin and his sister Carol Ann.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday May 17, 2014 at 12:00PM at Sacred Heart Church, Patterson, NY, interment will follow at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster, NY. Visitation will be Friday May 16, 2014 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Callahan’s memory may be made to Putnam County Community Action Program, 121 Main Street, Brewster, NY.
