Widening of Route 312: Crossroads 312 Traffic

How is all this traffic traveling to Crossroads 312?

I84 will not be the main carrier of cars.  65% to 60% of the traffic will be utilizing connector roads to the development.

In order to handle the traffic volume he following changes need to occur to Route 312:

·         Widening of Route 312 into 5 lanes – 2 lanes from approximately Zimmer Road to the I84 West traffic light.  3 lanes from I84 West traffic light reaching the second entrance of Crossroads.  Second entrance will be found almost a cross the road from Zimmer Road.)

·         I84 West exit/entrance ramp will be 5 lanes in each direction.

·         Please note:  I84 overpass will not be expanded.  All traffic will have to merge to cross the over pass.

·         Widening of Route 312 West into 2 lanes by 625 feet into Route 6.  Widening of Route 6 at the Route 312 intersection.

·         Widening of Route 312 East – addition of a right hand turn lane onto Route 22.

·         Installation of a traffic light at North Brewster Road which will coordinate with the Brewster Hill Road/Farm to Market Road traffic light.

·         Widening of Route 312 West by 100 feet at the North Brewster Road to provide a left turn lane.  Widening of North Brewster Road for a right hand turn lane onto Route 312.

·         Adding a traffic light by Applebee’s on Independence Way.

Since traffic volume will have to travel the 312 corridor some residential roads were designated as connector roads:

·         North Brewster Road

·         Brewster Hill Road

·         Farm to Market Road

Who will pay for all of this?  Who will pay to maintain the roads?  Will any town tax benefit ($46,000 projected town taxes) even cover the Route 312 expansion?  Is it right to use residential roads to carry traffic to a shopping center?
