Brewster Cops Spend 118 Hours Patrolling Main Street in September

Authorities received (64) 911 calls, which included complaints for everything from suspicious vehicles to welfare checks to a taxi dispute.

At this week's Village Board of Trustees regular meeting, officials accepted the Brewster Police Department's report for September. Officers:

  • Issued hundreds of tickets: 72 traffic violations, 17 Department of Transportation truck enforcement and 120 parking.
  • Inspected 39 taxis.
  • Made four arrests: two suspended registrations, one disorderly conduct and one criminal contempt.
  • Made 324 security visits: 130 to the sewer, 119 to the water tank and 75 to the well field.
  • Spent 264 hours on foot patrol: 118 on Main Street, 115 at the Brewster Train Station and 31 in residential areas.
  • Handled (64) 911 calls—for reports that ranged from an oil spill to a peddler to a missing child—and 30 walk-in/pickup complaints.
