Carmel Man Arrested for Harassing Southeast Woman

The following information was provided by the Putnam County Sheriff's Department--

Putnam County Man Charged in Making Threatening Text Messages

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a 20 year-old Carmel man on criminal charges stemming from his alleged involvement in repeatedly sending threatening text messages to a Southeast woman and attempting to arrange to meet the recipient at a park in Carmel.

According to Investigator Stephen Tricinelli of the Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Anthony S. Russo of 303 Miller Road sent the complainant text messages at various times between April 13, 2014 and May 26, 2014.

On July 2nd, Mr. Russo surrendered himself to the investigator at the Sheriff’s Office where he was charged with Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree and Stalking in the Fourth Degree – both misdemeanor crimes. He was released without bail pending a July 29th court appearance in Southeast Town Justice Court.

If convicted of the most serious charge, Mr. Russo may face up to one year in the Putnam County Correctional Facility as determined by a court.
