Cops: Brewster Man Drives Drunk, Strikes Barrier on Route 6

He was released after posting $500 bail.

A 24-year-old Brewster man is facing a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated after he crashed into a construction barrier in Southeast this weekend, officials say.

Troopers from the Southeast Barracks arrested Juan Mendez-Borja at about 12:25 a.m. Saturday. They had previously observed him driving his 2000 Honda Del Sol in "an erratic manner" on Route 6 in Southeast. He is accused of striking a construction barrier.

Mendez-Borja was released on $500 bail, pending an appearance in Southeast Justice Court.

Whenever someone is arrested, his or her "status" should be checked ... Police should learn if the person is wanted, what his or her arrest record is, and certainly if they are in this country legally or not. What police do with this information is the subject of debate.
