Cops: Mahopac Man Stole Generator From Cable Business, Used it During Sandy

Carmel Police provided the following information. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Mahopac man is facing a felony charge in connection with the theft of a generator from a local cable company establishment, which led to an interruption in service, police say.

Carmel Police Det. Joseph LoPiccolo arrested John Asmodeo, 29, earlier this week on a fourth-degree grand larceny charge. Authorities say they found the Honda 3000 generator at Asmodeo's home.

"Mr. Asmodeo apparently stole a generator belonging to Comcast Cable and utilized it [at his] residence during the recent power outage due to Hurricane Sandy," officials say. "The theft of the generator caused a discontinuance of Comcast TV and Internet service for a portion of the Mahopac area of the Town of Carmel."
