Cops Nab South Salem Couple with 225 Bags of Heroin and More

A traffic stop in Greene County turned into a big drug bust for state police.

Anthony J. Miozzi and Tara E. O'Dell, South Salem residents, were stopped June 9 on Route 23. Police found 225 bags of heroin, 15 grams of cocaine, several Oxycontin pills and drug packaging materials. Miozzi also had a switchblade. 

They were both charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, a class B Felony, Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance 4th degree, a class C Felony, and Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree, a class A Misdemeanor.

Miozzi was also charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, a class D Felony.
The duo, both 29, were arraigned in the Town of Cairo Court before Judge  Leland Miller, who sent them to Greene County Jail. No bail was set for Miozzi and O'Dell's was set at $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond.
