Fatal Fire: Officials Reconvene, Await Test Results

Investigation is continuing.

Officials at the Carmel Police Department provided the following update in a press release Monday morning.  for more information on the fire—which struck at about 2 a.m. Tuesday and claimed the lives of Larchmont police Capt. Thomas Sullivan, his wife and two teenage daughters.

The following is an update to the fire investigation with regards to the fatal fire at the Sullivan residencelocated at 19 Wyndham Lane on 5/1/12. Detectives from the Carmel Police Department and are still in the process of conducting interviews with neighbors, emergencyservice responders who responded to the scene of the fire, and friends of the family, as well as anyonewho has additional information with regards to this incident. The test results of samples sent to the New York State Police Laboratory have yet not been completed, and we are awaiting the results of the tests. At 10 a.m. law enforcement personnel and the Putnam County Fire Investigation Team will be meeting tocollaborate on what was ascertained so far in the investigation, as well as planning what if anything elseneeds to be investigated and followed up. As was stated in previous updates, this investigation maytake one to several weeks to complete. A notification and press conference will be scheduled when theinvestigation has been completed.
