High-Speed Driver Turns off Headlights to Elude Police

Carmel town officers who chased the Mahopac resident arrested him after he pulled into a driveway and tried to run.

Police officers saw a car speed by on Route 6 at Clark Place in Carmel at 8 p.m. Dec. 13.

The officers followed the vehicle onto Simone Drive and to Bucks Hollow Road, and attempted to stop it by activating the siren and emergency lights.

The driver instead sped away onto Astor Drive and shut off the headlights to elude the officers. Finally, he pulled into a residential driveway on Astor Drive and attempted to run away, police said.
