Man Wanted by Connecticut Police Found Hiding in Southeast Basement

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a 51-year-old Southeast resident at the request of Connecticut State Police.

Officials from the Connecticut State Police contacted sheriff’s investigators and asked them to execute an outstanding warrant for James E. Barry of Mountain Brook Drive.

According to the warrant, Mr. Barry has been wanted for the Sale of Narcotics by the State of Connecticut since April of 2009.

Uniformed deputies and investigators went to Barry’s home, and found him hiding in a crawl space under the house. Investigator John Alfano took him into custody without incident.

He was charged as being a Fugitive from Justice and arraigned before Putnam County Judge James Rooney. Judge Rooney ordered Barry held in the Putnam County Correctional Facility until his extradition to the State of Connecticut.
