Court Update: North Salem Brothers

Jonathan P. Owoo, 19, and Michael X. Owoo, 17, appeared in Southeast Justice Court Thursday.

The North Salem brothers facing felony charges in connection with the attack on two Brewster teens could see a resolution as early as next month.

Jonathan P. Owoo, 19, and Michael X. Owoo, 17, appeared before Judge Gregory L. Folchetti in Southeast Justice Court Thursday. Corrections officers transported the young men there from the Putnam County Jail, where they have been since late June.

Both defense lawyers and Assistant District Attorney Christopher York told Folchetti that discussions and negotiations were ongoing, and a resolution may be reached by the brothers' next court appearance.

Folchetti——set that date as Nov. 15. Each defendant is in jail on $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond bail.

The Owoos were initially sent to the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $75,000 cash or $150,000 bond bail. Officials from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office  arrested the brothers on felony assault charges in July, following a fight that left one of the two victims in critical condition.

Um...Since I live in Southeast, I can't vote for Mayor of the Village of Brewster. So why do youRead More think I, a taxpayer of Southeast, paid for this destruction when I really don't have a clue to what happens in the Village? There's a disconnect that needs to addressed.
