Several people were transported to Danbury Hospital for serious injuries Thursday evening after a three-vehicle crash occurred near the Value Village shopping center on Route 22.

Authorities closed a portion of Route 22, from Route 312 to just north of the Bel-Aire Motor Lodge, shortly after the 7:30 p.m. accident. Two of the vehicles sustained major damage.

The roadway was expected to remain closed for several hours as police reconstruct the crash, officials said around 8 p.m.

First-responders came from several agencies: Brewster Fire Department, Putnam Lake Fire Department, New York State Police, TransCare EMS and more.
