Out-of-Towner Faces Felony Drug Charge

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office provided the following information. It does not indicate a conviction.

Police say they have arrested a 24-year-old Long Beach man on drug charges, following a recent traffic stop on Route 22.

Deputy Thomas Lee reportedly observed Ryan D. Rodger commit a traffic violation at about 2:10 a.m. Sept. 11, officials from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office announced Monday in a statement. 

Lee conducted an investigation and found Rodger to be carrying drugs, police said. Officials did not provide specifics.

Rodger is facing a felony charge of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and a misdemeanor charge of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Authorities also charged him with unlawful possession of a marijuana, a violation.

He was held at the Putnam County Correctional Facility where he awaited arraignment.
