Police: $270,000 Missing, Bookkeeper Charged
She is alleged to have taken the money from her employer's business and personal accounts.
Margaret F. Salomon of Mahopac NY faces two felony charges in connection with more than a quarter-million dollars missing from a Southeast business owner's business and personal accounts.
She was arrested March 26 by members of the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Brewster barracks, after state police were assigned to investigate a crime reported by a town of Southeast business owner.
With the assistance of a privately hired forensic accounting agency, the victim discovered more than $270,000 missing from both personal and business accounts, police said. Salomon is alleged to have stolen the money while serving as bookkeeper.
Charged with Grand Larceny 2nd Degree, a Class C Felony, and Falsifying Business Records 1st Degree, a Class E Felony, the 42-year-old was arraigned before the Town of Southeast Justice Court and released on her own recognizance.
She is scheduled to re-appear in court April 15.
